Hokusai's great wave has moved through the world for nearly two centuries — copied, referenced, reinterpreted — and yet somehow Great Wave finds something new inside it. Rendered in layered paper-cut art with fine woodblock-inspired linework pressed into every surface, the wave curls from left to right in deep navy and teal, its crest exploding into intricate ivory and cream foam that reaches like fingers across the frame. At the heart of the curl, the barrel opens onto a glowing sunset — a cream-white sun radiating outward through amber, crimson, and deep violet in concentric waves of sculpted paper. Dark, spiral-textured clouds press in from above while two white birds cross the red sky, small and calm against the drama below.
